What is a disciple?
A disciple is someone who follows the teaching of another. While many people call themselves Christians, Jesus always calls disciples to follow Him. To walk in obedience to His teaching. To submit their lives to Him as their Lord. To delight in His presence. And to lead others to follow with them.
THE HUNDRED YEAR PLAN
When Immanuel Church was planted in 2004, we asked God that in 2104:
- Immanuel would still be a gospel light faithful to the unchanging Word of God and the Good News of a Savior who redeems sinners.
- Immanuel would have started a church planting movement in Rensselaer, Albany, and Columbia counties.
- Immanuel would have played a part in God's plan for a movement of God in our region.
The Disciple's Institute
The purpose of the Discipleship Institute (DI) is to equip future disciple-makers, teachers, and pastors.
DI courses are academic, last 8-12 weeks, and intended to reflect Bible college-level work. Most courses will have a small book fee ($50 or less) and will often include outside reading and some reflective writing.
